DOGE is the Oligarchy's Death Star
Emperor Elon seeks total annihilation of all who would hold him accountable
The Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is taking steps to dry up the agency’s funding.
Workers will work remotely this week while Elon Musk’s Oligarchy Defense Initiative - DOGE - roams freely.
The agency that has returned $21 billion to consumers harmed in the financial marketplace will see its work ground to a stop.
Reuters notes that the offices will be closed this week:
The Washington headquarters of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will be closed for the week of February 10-14, according to an internal email, adding to the confusion facing the agency's staff in the days since representatives of billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency gained access.
Adam Martinez, the CFPB's chief operating officer, told all staff that employees and contractors are to work remotely unless otherwise instructed by newly installed acting director Russell Vought.
It’s no shock that as Musk attempts to enter the payment space through his X platform, he’s also seeking to disable any regulatory guardrails.
Of course, the CFPB regularly serves as a champion for everyday consumers - taking on corporate giants like Chase and Wells Fargo.
The oligarchy simply can’t be bothered with regulators that ask them not to prey on the most vulnerable consumers. So, Elon has unleashed the DOGE Death Star to eliminate CFPB.
Of course, Emperor Elon’s actions are meeting some resistance. The advocates over at Americans for Financial Reform are warning of the dire consequences of the loss of enforcement power at CFPB:
“The CFPB was created to keep a watchful eye on the consumer financial services marketplace. [Acting CFPB Director] Vought is now giving all sorts of financial companies a green light to defraud and gouge their customers,” said Christine Chen Zinner, consumer policy counsel at Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund. “Every corporate bad actor in finance now has a free pass from the Trump administration to make life more expensive and less fair for families all over the country.”
