President Trump issued a flurry of Executive Orders last week, many focused on undoing the work of the Biden Administration.
One Tennessee-based advocacy group is warning that the net effect of orders focused on health policy could make it more challenging for low-income, working families to access affordable health plans.
The Tennessee Justice Center warns:
For Tennesseans relying on the ACA Marketplace, these changes mean higher premiums, higher deductibles, and less support to find coverage. Fewer people will enroll, and many families will be left without affordable options.
Trump’s EO also impacted prescription drugs - but not in a big way (yet):
One that drew some attention rescinds an order by Biden calling on Medicare and Medicaid to find ways to lower the cost of prescription drugs for recipients of these programs.
While not helpful, that act in and of itself did not make prescription drug prices higher.
